Sophomores take care of Clarkson


Saturday October 27th the JVs avenged the Varsity loss the night before by defeating Canada's Clarkson North Football 34-20. The Ramblers were able to get off to another fast start, scoring on their second possession of the game when Paniro Johnson crossed the goal line on a 3 yard touchdown run. After a defensive stop, Clarkson was forced to punt and the JVs were able to capitalize off of good field position when Johnson scored again on an 8 yards out. Clarkson battled back. They were able to score on a 4th and long just before halftime and took the opening drive down field to make the game 14-14 just minutes into the second half. Tamar Sample lead a passing drive that got the Ramblers in the redzone and found John David Campbell in the flat for a 21-14 lead. Clarkson was able to use a good kick off return to set up a the game tying score just before the 4th quarter but the 2 point try was broken up in the endzone. Ahead 21-20 with 3 minutes to go in the game, Clarkson decided to kick it deep when the Ramblers were set up for the onside kick. Xonder Goodwin caught the ball at the Prep 25 yard line and weaved his way in and out of the kickoff cover team 75 yards for a touchdown to put the Ramblers up 28-20. Clarkson completed a hook and ladder, and attempted several laterals on the last play of the game when Hunter Sunafrank got his hands on a pitch and took it back for a score as time expired. The Sophomores end the year on a 3 game win streak, outscoring their opponents 121-26 and improved to 5-4 on the year.
