Freshmen roll McDowell


Saturday at Gus Anderson Field the Freshmen rolled Trojans 26-7. Jermaine Selby Jr. took a punt back 55 yards for the Ramblers first score putting them up 6-0. McDowell struggled on offense and were unable to move the ball agaisnt the big defensive line for the Ramblers. Closing out the first quarter Mike Parks took a dive 40 yards on a 3rd and 8 for another Rambler touchdown putting them up 12-0. McDowell was able to get on the board after blocking a punt in Rambler territory and were able to punch it in with the short field minutes before halftime. The Trojans attempted a short squib kick on the ensuing kickoff, giving the Ramblers the ball on their 45. With under a minute left Mike Parks took an inside handoff 55 yards for the score, increasing the lead 20-7. The Trojans had great field position after a solid kick return but their deep pass attempt was picked off by the Rambler secondary. With only 8 seconds left in the first half Reece Colvin launched a bomb to Jermaine Selby Jr. who caught it in front of McDowells bench, broke a tackle and scampered 85 yards up their sideline putting the Ramblers up 26-7 for good.
